Is There Food?: The Legend of Mr Pastry

  • Mick Davies · 4 years ago
As I remember Mister Pastry was called Richard Hearn. He did a slapstick act - usually featuring a lot of flour - on TV shows like Crackerjack in the 1960s.

Thanks Mick, that means we've established who Mr. Pastry is, _and_ who performed Mule Train!

    Hi,

Mick Davies is absolutely right but, just a bit more info re Mr. Pastry. At the end of his performance he used to perform a dance for eight people (called "The Lancers") on his own. This was an absolute scream. To conclude, I've laughed myself poorly at both Richard Hearn and Tremont Blackman.

Now that's something I'd like to see! Thanks for the info Paul.

Is there a copy of Mr Pastry dancing the Lancers available. I danced the Lancers when I was younger.
    A happy dancer, Jean

I've seen richard hearn dancing the lancers several times on early t/v. I also saw him in a film called "something in the city" where he would leave his house at 9.05am exactly on the dot every morning, he was dressed immaculately as a city worker with bowler hat, striped trousers and umbrella, he would travel by bus and train then bus again to the other side of london and enter a house re emerging ten minutes later dressed as a pavement artist which was in fact what he was, it was a great comedy.
