Is There Food?: Movie Review: Casino Royale

Agree about the pacing. However it's not actualy a problem for me, as it fit's the books pace perfectly. I was a little annoyed that they used Texas Holdem instead of Baccarat, but knowbody knows how to play it so I supose it makes sence. I do agree though, that because they have replaced the card game with a popular one, then why is it that Giancarlo Giannini explains the game! if they wanted him to do that why not use Baccarat instead?

Thelast 3rd of the movie is a very good himage to the book, so the payoff is OK in my mind, it leads it into the next movie.... Which in theory should be Live and Let Die..... but we all know Bond 22 will be an original script. Perhaps it will be the first of the true Bond sequels?

Well I saw the film the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Craig was the bruising but convincing Bond I expected. Having enjoyed Matt Damon's Jason Bourne I wanted to see Bond be a bit more 'realistic' in terms of both stature, physique and technique. Strong, yet vulnerable to poison (aren't we all?). I'm glad he didn't actually sleep with the first girl and just seemed to 'want to get the job done'. It simply made me like the character more than the 'shagaminute' fest the last films had become. Yes it was long, (made worse by the fact that I'd drunk quite a bit before going in!) but as you say I think it all had merit.

The product placement was probably the only bit that annoyed me. How much stuff needed a Sony badge on it? Rolex watch? Of course not! But we've grown to accept this.

I really enjoyed this film and though my mother did not enjoy the essence of violence that ensued, my whole family found it a good choice in movie. From the beginning I was on the edge of my seat and after a while I just found myself staring at Craig's amazing blue eyes. It was still incredible great, it just slowed down a bit towards the end. And while I was disapointed with what I thought was the ending, I was astonished at how quickly it livened up and had me interested again.

Over all I enjoyed the movie to it's fullest, especially the little twist at the end. I can't wait for Bond 22. But still I really appreciated the realness of Daniel Craig and his amzing physique that definitely served the character justice. It was an amazing lesser-known cast which just made it all the better. Here's hoping the same amazing cast comes back for Bond 22~
